The Colchis Empire spanned much of what is now Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. But I want to get closer, to a plant that does not survive even several miles away from its small ecosystem. This plant grows in a town that has seen massive destruction, genocide, and a numbing tourism brought on by the very shrub that has called it home for thousands of years.
